Role of Parents

Dear Parents,

On behalf of Balsam Team, I would like to thank you believing in our vision and mission. We believe that it is important to allow the children to develop at their own pace, through continuous encouragement, praise and positive reinforcement of self image.

There are many things that parents can do to help us maximize the potential of our children. To begin, we have listed a few ways for you to start. We thank you in advance for the utmost co-operation that you shall be extending in the upcoming months.

UNIFORM:

As parents, it is our responsibility to send our children to school in clean and proper uniform.  Failure to do so may cause embarrassment to our children. To save from any such eventualities, do check their attire before sending them to school.

 ID CARD:

We kindly request you to ensure that children come to school with the ID card.  In case of damage/ loss, please place the order with payment at the school office on or before 1.12.18.  Failure to do so will put our children at risk and we would not recommend it.

 PUNCTUALITY:

Children who arrive late are greatly disadvantaged because they miss starting their day with their peers and circle time. This means that they are often missing key messages leading to confusion and unsettlement about school. It is very important that children establish good routines and habits in preparation for the rest of their lives. Punctuality is a life skill that they need to develop whilst they are at school. Please ensure that they arrive at school on time to prevent disruption to their own learning and that of others.

After 2 late arrivals in a month, the child shall be sent back home.

 ATTENDANCE:

A written note of excuse should be sent to the school in case of absence from school.  A medical certificate is required for an absence of more than 3 days. Maximum attendance at school is an essential pre-requisite for making full use of all educational opportunities and to maximize individual achievement.

Keeping this in mind, it is decided that the children shall not be given permissions during the working hours other than emergencies.

 EFFECTIVE USE OF EVENING TIME:

Help your child to prepare a study timetable for daily revision. This will help them progress and better their performances in the upcoming assessment (17^th to 22^nd Dec, 2018).

Social media usage (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, WhatsApp etc.) for parents has become ubiquitous, either as a form of entertainment or communication with other individuals. However, excessive use of social media has also shown to have effects on parenting; causing parental distraction, decreasing the level of everyday parental engagement, and making a child more likely to be at risk for injury. Studies have shown that frequent eye contact, one on one time, and undivided attention are necessary in building a secure attachment between a parent and child. Therefore, we kindly request you to make effective use of the time that the children spend at home in instilling values and life skills.

Kindly avoid sending children for private tuitions as most of the children do not get the needed attention there. The method of teaching may differ and it becomes yet another over crowded classroom with many classes/ streams of students together. So we request the parents to spend time/ monitor the child as much as possible during the evening study hours.
