Holiday Assignment – Kindergarten

Dear Parents of LKG and UKG,

Life needs to be balanced between fun and work. A short break gives a chance for children and parents to relax. During holidays, leisure replaces work as a priority. You are filled with the enthusiasm to explore, travel and learn. Besides relaxing, the children should keep in mind, the execution of the assigned work in a well-planned manner. Motivate them to interact with knowledgeable books that would in turn lead their minds to grow exclusively and in an effective manner.

The last working day for classes K-G5 will be 21.12.18 (Friday) and vacation holidays are from 22.12.2018 to 01.01.2019. The school will re-open on 02.01.2019 (Wednesday).

Please find the suggested activities in this circular which will also be available on the school ERP to engage our children during the vacation.

Here a few ideas for you and the child to enjoy together:

• Play outdoor games, like hopscotch, Jigsaw puzzles and memory games to keep the young ones engaged and sharpen the mind.
• Invite the child to help with simple cooking activities under your supervision, like shelling peas, rolling out dough, etc. Encourage the child to take on little jobs, such as filling the water bottles, dusting, watering plants, cleaning the cupboards, arranging the toys etc.
• Read books to the child. Look at story books together. Invite the child to talk about the story.

Ask questions such as “What did you like about the story?” Who was your favourite character?” “How would you have reacted in this situation?” “What do you think happens next?” etc.

• Keep a box of art materials for the child like play dough, colours, glue, child’s scissors, coloured paper, stickers etc. and let the child enjoy creating pictures and art work.
• Water Play: Put water in a tub and let the child enjoy playing with water. Add some containers like cups, jugs, etc. and may be some rubber water animals and the child will have a lot of fun pouring water from one container to another and playing with the animals!
• Encourage practical life activities: Tying laces, buttoning a shirt, pouring water from a jug into a cup, etc. are some of the examples. Have a box/basket of empty jars/containers and lids and encourage the child to match the lid with the correct container.

Sand Play: Put sand in a tub and add some toy animals, vehicles and figures. The child can use his/her imagination to create their own scenes and role plays.
