1. One of a teacher’s recent days illustrates the complexities that teachers are now managing. Managing daily chores at home, engaging their children to study, tackling a brimming inbox, scanning each email’s demands, attending conference calls, google meets, preparing and teaching online, creating videos and power point slides, generating worksheets and study material. Students asking: How do I answer this question? How do I submit my answers? Between emails, she graded her students’ assignments, surveyed her students about their online access and called parents to check if everything was okay. And there’s the planning new lessons, too.

They’ve been staring at a computer for 8-10 solid hours per day, their eyes are strained, their shoulders are tense, and they have to keep reminding themselves – all this is new, and we are all learning. Teachers also feel caught between their students and families, who are overflowing with questions, and their principals who often can’t provide answers yet.
3. “Families are asking, what is grading going to look like? What are they going to base promotion on? What about assessments? When will school reopen?” They’re used to being able to quickly get answers for the parents. But not being able to answer, it plagues their mind.”
